Horatio's at the Coconut Grove Hotel Matchbook
Vintage matchbook from the Horatio's at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Coconut Grove, Florida. This matchbook has never been used and features metallic gold tipped black matches when opened.
The front of the matchbook cover features the restaurant's logo with an anchor running through a "H". Inside, it lists the hotel's restaurants, bar and contact information. The back of the cover reads the restaurant's name with the same anchor running through a "H".
The Coconut Grove Hotel opened in Coconut Grove, Florida in the 1970s. Not much can be found about the hotel and it's rooftop restaurant, Horatio's, except a small excerpt in the New York times from March 27, 1977.
"The 21-story Coconut Grove Hotel, newest of the half-dozen hostelries in the area, is resplendent with a rooftop restaurant known as Horatio's. Dinner that close to the stars can run over $50 for two but Monday is 'gourmet night' when $11.95 per person allows choices from a French menu not dreamt of in Horatio's philosophy."
